What is a kransekake?

Kransekake (Ring pyramid cake) is a delicious and really impressive pastry, the crown of any party or banquet. The traditional way to decorate the cake is with small flags and crackers but also other ideas – even crazy ones – can be carried out. Every cake is tailor-made, according to the theme of the party and the client’s wishes. Kransekake has been the focal point of banquet serving in Norway and Denmark. Now the cake is also conquering Finland: Camilla Slomp has started baking cakes in Helsinki and will prepare a cake just for your needs. About the maker

Camilla Slomp’ daily job has nothing to do with ring pyramid cakes or baking, but cooking has always been her hobby. Camilla got acquainted with kransekake while she was living in Norway. After moving back to Finland it took a few years until Camilla got an idea to start baking cakes. On her trip to Norway Camilla met a real master of the cakes who told her the secrets of baking. Nowadays Camilla is the only home baker of kransekake in Finland.
